My name is Donna. I’m married, two daughters, two dogs, a cat, a ferret & one crazy life. . . ;). I say “wicked” – A LOT. I have. . . issues – and I have opinions – coffee fueled and otherwise. Hopefully they are thought provoking, sometimes humorous, and perhaps sarcastic. I will always strive to be respectful. I love to take pictures. Those you see here are mine unless otherwise indicated. If you like one of mine and want to use it please credit me, and link to the page you found the photo on. My hope is that you’ll feel like we’ve been sitting at my kitchen table having a wicked gab fest over a few cups of joe. Leave some love before you leave my site, please. And, Thank You for dropping in!
I like to laugh a lot, but I always get told to be quiet because I laugh very loudly
I have a lopsided smile – “No, I did not have a stroke.”
Don’t mistake my kindness for naivete, I know more than anyone thinks I do, and I hate being “shined on”
If I had to do it over again I’d be a paranormal investigator and/or a CSI.
I usually forget to put the cap back on the toothpaste.
I hate how different=bad in our society. Some of the most amazing people I know are “different”.
I bite my fingernails.
I REALLY can’t see without my glasses on
I got to play pinball with Joey Ramone!
I support the local music scene and I know some incredibly talented young musicians
I love my family and friends!
I’ve enjoyed reading your insights and wit here and on FB, Donna! I send all good wishes to you and your family for the holidays! 🙂 x
Just happened to run into your blog. You have got a beautiful space running here. Loved some of your write-ups. Its very subtle . I guess I will be hanging around here a lot. 🙂
Awesome! Thank you!
I can’t see without my contacts either, but when I am drawing or painting or reading, I do best without corrective vision, though I wouldn’t recognize a bear if it stepped through the door!
z
Hahahaha! I can’t even recognize my husband without them – until he speaks (long story… but a funny one)
I cant read or draw with my glasses on either….
Yikes. Take care. BTG
Brent came home early He believes its an ice dam which he took care of by getting rid of all the ice around the roof edge. He saved the day, and its no longer leaking through the overhead light canister in the shower. We will have to reshingle in the spring/summer since the last time we did that was in 97. We are doing fine, just sick of winter at this point. but thats New England. Love it or leave it, right?
Hugs!
Do you have a facebook or twitter account?
Donna~ I am so sorry for my mistake. One of the most challenging things about blogging for me is my technical ineptness (as opposed to me general ineptness that I have learned to adapt to.) Anyway, I do apologize, but am a teensy glad it happened because it led me to your wonderful site!
I look forward to following 🙂
I
No problem! Thank you very much! I just followed you too! Have a great weekend, and I love these kind of happy mistakes and karmic connections. Hugs! D.
It’s true one of the people I follow I hit by accident but left it and am so glad I did. So, thank God for happy mistakes and understanding people!!
The blogosphere has been good to both of us, it would seem!
Donna, I am missing you and your wit. If you have a minute, squeeze out a post. I hope you are well. Best regards, BTG
I’m staying warm under a ton of wool blankets while the Viking continues digging us out. 2ft of the white stuff here. It’s been too cold to sit at the computer. I’ve been micro blogging on twitter and Facebook. Thanks! Hugs! I’ll be back on soon.
Stay warm. Stay safe.
Will do! Thank you! Hugs!
just discovered the roof is leaking into the shower, some shingle damage (worn away) right above where is leaking but I guess if it had to leak it couldnt be in a better spot. We just cant turn on the lights in the bathroom because its leaking through the light canister in the shower ceiling… and more snow on the way next weekend…..
please read the other comments in my “About” apparently I dont know what im doing when it comes to responding to comments hahahaha! 😉

You have a great blog Donna and I’m really looking forward to reading more. I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who is told to quieten down because they laugh too loudly!
Thank you Eleenie! I love checking in on your site too! I’ve been following your garden progress and hoping to get some hints as we seem to live in the same climate zone. We are in the midst of planting our fruit and veggie garden this year. My husband, aka the Viking is very excited about it. I’m happy with my little herb containers, and my perennial flowers. So excited that my dad’s siberian irises are coming up in force again this year. They bloom in early June, and we lost Dad on June 7, 2007. So having these in my flower beds helps me stay beautifully connected to him. I know he’s thinking of me when I see the blooms. Thanks again! Love the connection we are making!

Have you read “The Girls from Ames?” 11 girls with 40 year friendship.
No, I will have to check it out, thanks!
Is her health good? My sister is a few yrs older than your mom & she has rheumatoid arthritis which makes some events impossible, but she keeps going. She adores her grandchildren and even babysits her great grandchildren. I have difficulty taking care of two grand babies now unless my husband can help out too. I don’t know how my sister manages three by herself.
She has COPD. and some other issues, but that’s the main one. I understand she gets tired, I have asthma so I know how she feels. She’s given up doing so much – baking, photography, walks, gardening etc that she doesn’t have to if she would talk honestly with her doctors and get on a medication regimen that would best help her be as active as possible. She doesn’t like her inhalers because she says they raise her bp (she bases this on her experience with having to use her inhalers during a stress test – which the dr never should have made her do, she should have gotten an epi shot and done it that way…) Shes also very anxious – but won’t even think about an anti anxiety med -which would help her relax about her breathing too…. you just got an ‘earful’ sorry about that..
Manteca! Just up the highway from Fresno. Please don’t visit in July or August unless you want to be very warm. 8-).
Thanks so much for posting. Nice to hear from you. Looking forward to more conversation on this aging stuff! I’m actually worki g on a book about a group of women who aged together over a 50 yr period. Life is what we make it.
Absolutely! This is why I get very sad with the decisions my mom is making. There’s so much to see and do and she chooses to shut herself away….
And that book sounds very interesting. half a century of feminine wisdom!
As for the book. Look for a few excerpts on my blog. Allied Arts Girls.
I will definitely do that. I often think about the intricacies of female friendships – what keeps them alive, what nurtures them, and what can kill them. My bff and I have been “together” for 40 years. We finish each others sentences, text song lyrics that the other has to finish, and are generally pretty goofy. She’s my sister from another mother.
Heres one of my posts about friendship I think you’ll like it. https://dje1231.wordpress.com/2012/03/23/friends/
Wicked nice to meet cha! I think the paranormal or CSI would be cool. Normal doesn’t exist…thanks for stopping by my “pad”.~Susan
I’m with you on that one. Normal isn’t
in the vocabulary! Have a great evening! The peepers are in full chorus!!!
Dear Donna! Already loving what I’ve read about you! So much looking forward to getting to know you and to catching up here with your wonderful blog! Warmest greetings from Finland, Sharon
I can’t wait to find out more about Finland and Afghanistan. I work with folks with special needs and that piece you wrote about the brothers moved me to tears! Caring IS universal, and we need to cultivate that! Hugs from Western MA USA!
Thank you so much Donna for reading that post. Those two little boys have stayed in my heart for all these years. Your work with people with special needs fill my heart with thanksgiving. That speaks so much about you and the life you stand for. Yes, we need to cultivate a culture that translates care and compassion into everyday deeds. Hugs back!
Hi donna! I want to thank you for following my blog! i felt that your a very loving and fun mother! i like you already 😉 I’ll be following around so please do expect me to visit more often 😉 by the way, can you kiss your dog for me? 🙂
Sure, I’ll give both of them one for you!! Thank you so much for your compliments, I will be checking your site regularly. I’m finding the blogging community to be so welcoming and supportive. ❤
So weird. The second time tonight I’ve been to someone’s blog that I swore I was already following! So glad to visit again! Thanks for visiting mine! Look forward to more.
I’ve done that a few times myself! Have a great evening!
