2012 in review: Happy Birthday to Me! ( today really is my birthday)

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 22,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 5 Film Festivals

    • Hey there! It’s been busy, I’ve been working on a coffee table photo book, and dealing with the never ending car problems… Looking forward to a lucky ’13. Otherwise, going to spend a nice quiet evening at home. Happy New Year!!!

      • Me again. Looking back over your 51 years, let me highlight some major occurrences for your birthday:
        – the Civil Rights Act was passed
        – Medicare and Medicaid were passed
        – the Vietnam War was ended
        – we landed a man on the moon and robots on Mars along with some Shuttling
        – a President doing bad things was forced to resign
        – the personal computer and smartphones were created
        – the internet was created and made better
        – the Berlin Wall was torn down and the Soviet Union ended
        – the Red Sox won the World Series and then did it again
        – Roe v Wade was passed
        – the Affordable Care Act was passed
        – the EPA was created, a good thing done by the above President
        – we have openly gays and lesbians in the military
        – we have several states who allow same sex marriage
        – we elected an African American President twice
        – Great Britain had a female Prime Minister
        – the head of the World Bank is female
        – the European Union was created and survives to this day
        – the global economy has expanded trade relations
I am forgetting many things. You have witnessed much in your first half century plus one. I wish for you a healthy next 50 plus one. Take care, BTG

  1. Happy Birthday to you Donna! Here’s to the power, creativity, and expression of multiple film festivals all contained within this one wonderful blog 🙂 Way to go! Wishing you a wonderful day, and hey! Maybe there’ll even be fireworks near you tonight, to help celebrate your birthday!!
    Hugs, Gina

  2. Hey Happy Birthday!!!!! You could always say that you were born on this day because your parents were saving the best birth for the last day of the year LOL. I’ll bet Christmas was an exciting time for you when you were a kid!

    • Thank you! I was a nice little tax deduction for 1961. Unexpected, because I wasn’t due till February 1962. Having a birthday so close to Christmas is fun, and also disappointing when/if you’re a kid who has relatives or friends who give one gift for both occasions. As an adult I understand that people cannot always afford to give what they would like to. But as a 7 yr old, I don’t recall being very understanding about it. I do love the fact that everyone celebrates my birthday, even if they don’t know it’s my day. 😉 thanks!!! Happy New Year! Here’s to a better 13 than 12!!!
