That’s so awesome. What a wonderful send off. I admire the strength it takes to do what he is doing. We just got word this evening that a friend’s 22 year old son died tonight. He had diabetes and apparently didn’t take his insulin regularly. Such a terrible tragedy. I will try to be as strong for them as you and your friend’s hubby is…thank you for providing an excellent example.
Lisa and I became friends just last year (Choir Moms). Such a great sense of humor. She short sheeted our friend Lena’s bed on the choir trip the year before so it fell to me as her roommate and the choir director to make sure the ‘favor’ was repaid. I didn’t know her for long, but she was one hell of a lot of fun.
I teared up at the blog…of course, I also cry during every “Soldier returning home” commercial and all those “Rescue an animal so they won’t be put to sleep” commercials, so I’m a bit of a wuss.
Aww…you owe me a box of kleenex!!!! Darn it, I wasn’t going to cry today. haha…beautifully written piece. Wish I could have met Nellie…but I bet she’s up there in doggie heaven playing with my Roscoe…sniff, sniff…
I hope so! and I’m sniffling now too, just so you know you’re not alone.
Sorry! We should share stock in Kleenex…:)
lol! no problem
and I’m so sorry to hear about your friends son. My husband’s cousin died in his 40s from diabetic complications. I had a friend in high school that later on killed himself by driving into oncoming traffic. Men have a particularly hard time dealing with the disease for some reason…. My condolences to you all

Great blog!! Happy to make another virtual buddy….(and PS..terribly sorry for the loss of your friend. Beautifully written tribute to her though.)
Thank you! I’m glad I happened across your site. I’m happy to make a new friend too!
And thank you for the kind words about my friend also. Her husband is already planning what he terms a “Massive Celebration” of her life.
